New Legalization Conference – CA NORML

CA NORML concludes conference for the future of legal marijuana in california.

Over 300 activists and representatives attended California NORML\’s conference on the future of legal marijuana in California, in preparation for the November 2012 ballot.  Organizers seemed determined to ensure that all voices are heard and taken into consideration this time around.  Proposition 19 lost in November 2010 by a 54% to 46% margin partly because it lost the support of important groups who felt left out because the writing process was closed.  Defense attorneys thought it didn\’t do enough to ensure decriminalization and medical marijuana dispensary owners felt it was using them as a stepping stone.  Considering how close the Proposition 19 was to passing, and the willingness those involved in drafting new legislation to learn from past mistakes, is there any doubt that 2012 will be a turning point in the longstanding effort to legalize cannabis?
